4 Reasons Women Farmers Attend This Conference

Today, perhaps more than ever before, women play a pivotal role on U.S. farms and ranches. More than 30% of farm operators are women, and more young women are returning to the farm to manage areas of the operation such as human resources, financial reporting, recordkeeping, technology and production.

The need to provide education on farm business practices has never been greater. That’s why Top Producer continues to host the Executive Women in Agriculture (EWA) conference for women farmers and ag professionals.

EWA attendance has grown every year in its six-year tenure, now drawing around 250 producers and agribusiness professionals. Here are four reasons attendees say this year’s event is “can’t miss.”

1. EWA is a one-of-a-kind networking event, with plenty of chances to talk with peers and make new friends from across the U.S. and Canada.

2. Get smart on marketing, succession planning, business management, communication and other key areas of your operation.

3. Get a sneak peek of 2017 market analysis via a live taping of U.S. Farm Report.

4. Be inspired by EWA’s dynamic keynote speaker, Vivian Howard, who went from farm kid to celebrity TV chef. She and her husband own and operate a “farm-to-fork” restaurant in Kinston, N.C. She’s a whip-smart entrepreneur and a savvy chef who hasn’t forgotten her farming roots – sourcing more than 70% of the restaurant’s ingredients from local farms and ranches.
