Corn hybrid selection often doesn’t get enough credit for helping producers through the growing season, says Chris Barron of Ag View Solutions.
“Sometimes we underestimate the ability of these new hybrids to really deliver,” Barron says on the latest “Margin Minute” video on AgWeb.com. “That’s probably something we as producers have to do a good job of calibrating our mindset on. We actually can produce a pretty big crop under a lot of extremes. That’s a good thing. We want to get productivity.”
The right products can improve stalk quality and roots, limit disease and more, adds Laura Blomme, account manager for DuPont Pioneer in southeast Iowa.
“Consistency is so important,” Blomme says. “We know no two years are the same. We’re going to face different challenges every year.”
