New Age of Seed Treatments

2016 Global Seed Treatment Market

As technology increases within the seed, the protection coating the seed improves as well. Nearly 50% of the multibillion-dollar seed treatment market is owned by five key players; the other half is owned by dozens of smaller companies. By 2020, this market will be worth $11.31 billion, according to MarketsandMarkets, a global research company.

“Seed treatment growth rate is everywhere, but it’s better in countries outside of the U.S.,” says Will Polese, MarketsandMarkets director.
MarketsandMarkets is tracking significant investments in Asian countries. This is likely the case as China, Japan and India make strides to improve technology for farmers. Recent mergers and acquisitions have broadened the reach of many companies beyond the U.S., which has expanded research and development capabilities.

“In the U.S., we’ll mostly continue with status quo,” Polese says. “There is no concrete indication prices will go up.”
