Ukraine has restarted corn exports via rail through the western part of the country, said Roman Slastyon, general director of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club. He reported shipping via rail could handle 600,000 metric tons of grain per month, about 10% to 15% of port shipping capacity. Reuters reports that all Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea and Azov Sea remain closed. The association noted the exports could provide money for fuel, fertilizer, seeds and salaries for spring planting. Ukraine has around 20 million metric tons (MMT) of wheat and corn still to export from the 2021-22 season, which ends in June.
