When Tom Wingert, branch manager at Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC in Osmond, Nebraska, defines this retail location’s success, he immediately points to the success of customers.

“If our customers are successful at the end of the year after they’ve raised their crop, then I know we’ve been successful. We’ve done our job for them,” Wingert said.

Wingert believes that success is driven by People…Products…Knowledge...®, the company motto his team embodies. They help growers within a 70-mile radius get the best yield possible from the irrigated and dryland corn and soybeans they raise.

“Growers have all kinds of choices. I believe choosing to work with us comes back to our people, our products and the knowledge we have,” Wingert said. “We’re a full-service retailer, and we supply everything our customers need to grow a crop.

“Our services set us apart, and growers come to us because we have the precision programs, data and people in the fields to take their farms to the next level. AGRIntelligence® Solutions and the tools within it are something they can’t get everywhere.”

AGRIntelligence includes eight digital agronomy tools that can be used separately or combined to help growers make more-informed decisions to help maximize yield. But precision programs rely on in-field observations from agronomists, test results and data gathered from each field. That data is gathered, entered and put to work by people.

People bring it all together.

From Wingert himself to sales agronomists, AGRIntelligence technicians and location staff, the Osmond-based team members spend much of their time in the fields looking at crops and talking with growers daily.

“Being out in the field with growers shows them we’re invested in their crop. We make our recommendations as if we were the ones farming that field,” Wingert said.

Helena also is invested in its people, hiring individuals with the agronomic experience and technical knowledge needed to bring everything together for their customers.

“The amount of data we have in the system and the amount we continue to collect from each field is huge,” Wingert said. “What we can do with the information, from creating nutrient application and planting prescriptions to developing variable-rate side dress prescriptions and placing the right hybrids or varieties on the right acres, really helps our customers maximize yield on every acre.”

“It’s labor intensive. It takes time. But customers love coming in at the end of the year to look at the overlays of planting data, harvest data and nutrient prescriptions,” he said. “They can see exactly what’s working for them and decide what products to use on their farms the next year.”

Products that work for Helena and farmers.

Wingert has been with Helena for 33 years. Throughout that time, Corteva Agriscience has been a trusted partner, providing products, expertise and support that help deliver value and results for growers every season.

“We were one of the first retailers in northeast Nebraska to get on board with Enlist E3 soybeans. Enlist One herbicide with 2,4-D choline gives us better weed control and is easier to apply than dicamba,” Wingert said. “We’ve been very pleased with the control it provides on waterhemp and Palmer amaranth.

“Corteva is a partner who understands our customers’ needs,” Wingert said. “They bring us new innovations and provide the information and support we need to help customers achieve the best return on their investment. That’s what we’re looking for in a partner.”
