RCIS Releases New Mobile Tool

Easier access for crop insurance agents means more timely service for farmer customers.

No farmer wants to be in a position where they have to file a crop insurance claim. But when the situation arises, they want the process to go as quickly and as smoothly as possible. Leading crop insurance company RCIS has developed a new mobile tool it hopes will do just that.

The tool, called CIMobile, is available to the more than 4,000 insurance agents who offer crop insurance through RCIS. Other users will include the RCIS internal team of 1,200 adjusters who will now have instant access to claims information wherever they are – whether at their desk, in their truck or in the field.

“We believe our mobile service has more features and delivers more useful information than anything else in the market,” says chief technology officer Rick Greenwood.

At the mobile-optimized website m.rcis.com, users can submit a notice of loss, view comments from adjusters, track changes as they happen from beginning to end and more. Claims are searchable by name or policy number for easy access. An app for iPhone and android smartphones is also currently in the works.

“We spoke with agents and developed a solution that addresses real-world needs,” Greenwood says. “For our agents, it will mean fewer requests for claim updates to a regional service officer or an area claims supervisor, resulting in more time for them to spend on other activities.”
Project manager Andy Johnson says they added email functionality after users tested an earlier version and consistently made that request.

“We added an email option so that we fit into agents’ workflow rather than force them to change their practices,” he says. “They can email the entire notice of loss to themselves or anyone they wish.”
