Farmers Receive $4 Billion in ERP Payments

Farmers have received nearly $4 billion of ERP payments so far.

Disaster assistance is going out to farmers impacted by wildfires, droughts, hurricanes and winter storms that hit in 2020 and 2021.

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack announcing that so far, producers have already received more than $4-billion in payments through the Emergency Relief Program or ERP, which was formerly know as WHIP. That accounts for about 67% t of the more than $6-billion set aside for Phase one of the program.

Phase two will be aimed at filling gaps and providing help to producers who didn’t receive payments through existing programs.
The money comes from a bill President Biden signed in to law last year.
