A farm bill has arrived for farmers just ahead of Christmas. Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), chairman of the House Ag Committee is thankful the hard work his team has put in to get the farm bill passed before the end of the year. have put in. He says he’s proud, and he says the House did a “good job on this bill.” Rep. Conaway shares the highlights of the bill including hemp’s inclusion, feral hog eradication, and broadband internet.

 

Andrew Walmsley, directional of congressional relations with the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) is expecting Congress to move quickly on passing the farm bill, which he believes could go into final passage on Wednesday or Thursday. Walmsley talks about the new clean water rule and how important it is for states to have control compared to the federal government.

 

Tiffany Lashmet, agricultural law specialist in the department of agricultural economics of Texas A&M, talks about the changes to the Clean Water Act and two of the key takeaways on the definition released today, including wetlands and ditches. She also shares her top takeaways from 2018 and what’s on her radar in 2019
