John’s World: Planting Intentions

The USDA issued its Prospective Plantings Report on Thursday, estimating that 89 million acres of soybeans will be planted and 88 million acres of corn.

Like many Midwestern farmers, U.S. Farm Report commentator John Phipps rotates two crops on his farm: corn and soybeans.

  Amen, Brother. I'm about your age and from a time of more diversified farming. Wish we had more crops to chose from on a commercial scale. We can't all be working to supply the "Farmer's Market". But I'm also glad 1/4 of what I raise isn't to feed the mules like in great granddad's day. It wasn't easy then either.
