Beef Exports Increased in February, Pork Shipments Slowed

The U.S. exported 250.8 million lbs. of beef in February, up 8.1 million lbs. (3.4%) from January but down 3.7 million lbs. (1.4%) from year-ago. Through the first two months of this year, beef shipments at 493.4 million lbs. dropped 48.7 million lbs. (9.0%) from the same period last year. While exports to Japan and Mexico increased, they were more than offset by lower shipments to China, South Korea, Taiwan and Canada.

Pork exports totaled 504.2 million lbs. in February, down 51.5 million lbs. (9.3%) from January but 18.0 million lbs. (3.7%) above year-ago. In the first two months of 2023, pork exports at 1.060 billion lbs. rose 63.5 million lbs. (6.4%) from the same period last year, as stronger shipments to China, Mexico and Canada more than offset declines to Japan and South Korea.
