China’s soybean imports from Brazil for January and February increased to 3.5 million metric tons (MMT), up 2.5 MMT from the previous year, according to China’s General Administration of Customs. For the same period, China imported 10.0 MMT of soybeans from the U.S., down 1.9 MMT from 2021. In 2021, China increased U.S. soybean purchases due to the trade deal signed in 2020. Brazil’s soybean exports to China were delayed due to a later-than-expected harvest.
