Fertilizer Companies See Stocks Soar in 2021, On Pace for Best Year Since 2009

It’s been a good year for fertilizer stocks. The top fertilizer companies in North America posted big stock gains this year, with some on pace to see their best year since 2009. Joe Vaclavik explains what it means.

It’s been a good year for fertilizer stocks. The top fertilizer companies in North America posted big stock gains this year, with some on pace to see their best year since 2009.

According to Bloomberg, CF Industries Holdings Inc. is seeing the biggest gains, as the major nitrogen prooducer has seen its stock soar 67% this year. And according to Standard & Poor’s 500 materials index, CF Industries is the second-best performer within the index for the entire year.

Mosaic is also on track to have its best year since 2009, with the stock skyrocketing 58%. Nutrien’s stock climbed 49% in 2021.
