John Deere is rolling out updates to its Model Year 2027 8 Series tractor line, including the 8R, 8RT and 8RX. The updates to the 250 to 410 hp tractors put an emphasis on comfort, consistency and customization.

“From customizable controls to enhanced comfort features, the MY27 8 Series lineup is designed to help operators stay productive and comfortable throughout long days in the field,” says Carlton Self, John Deere marketing manager for large tractors.

Customizable Steering for Enhanced Control and Comfort

Certain 8R models have Reactive Command Steering to enhance maneuverability and operator control by using a steering system that gives a more customized driving experience. Reactive Command Steering automatically returns the steering wheel to the center and offers three customizable feedback settings to tailor steering feel based on application and preference.

Three New Transmission Drive Lever Options

The updated operator experience also showcases three new transmission drive lever options: CommandX, CommandX Plus and CommandX Pro. These options build on the previous setup, providing a more customized experience as the operator progresses through the lineup while keeping the same foundational drive strategy.

Additional features to enhance the operator’s experience include:

  • A convenience display for quick digital access to functions such as HVAC, radio and seat settings.
  • Quick access buttons for commonly used controls.
  • Redesigned CommandARM control layout with electric, full-length cushion adjustment.
  • Integrated wireless phone charger.
  • Seatback vent for additional airflow.
  • Door cinch for a smooth, assisted closing experience.

Operators using the Electric Variable Transmission can also use the 56V Power Offboarding. This simplifies planter setup by allowing electrically driven planters to connect through a single harness instead of multiple hydraulic or electrical connections.

The Hitch Active Downforce on 8R and 8RX tractors helps maintain consistent seed depth in various field conditions on both integral and drawn planters.

The tractors are also autonomous-ready to unlock efficiency during tillage. They have the G5 Plus for access to AutoTrac Turn Automation, AutoTrac Implement Guidance and AutoPath. The tractors are also Machine Sync ready and feature optional JDLink Boost connectivity, helping ensure reliable capture of yield and machine data.

Integrated Warranty Protection and Comprehensive Customer Care

The MY27 8 Series will also include a 3-year/1,500- limited PowerGard extended warranty in the machine’s base price.

“The additional updates across the MY27 8 Series lineup are designed to improve the full ownership experience for our customers,” Self says. “From comfort and customization in the cab to simplified coverage and support, these tractors are built to help customers operate with confidence.”
