Traction Announces Cloud-Based Farm-Focused Accounting Software

With a goal to make state-of-the-art accounting technology user-friendly, Traction has released its cloud-based farm accounting application.

The team at Traction includes farm management software pros with previous experience from Trimble and Farm Works Software, including Ian Harley, Scott Nusbaum and Brian Stark.

“We know accounting, we know field record keeping,” says Stark, marketing director for Traction. “Farmers used to have to choose between legacy accounting software or applications that weren’t built specifically for farming.”
He says the team’s agriculture knowledge is key in being able to deliver an accounting system that captures all the financial and field information farmers need to record and manage.

“There are two things that have farmers hung up on tracking their entities, and we are able to do that very easily,” Stark says. “First, connect your online banking account with Traction and download your transactions. Second, assign the chart of accounts, which is built for the farm.”

Traction is designed to be used on any connected device including phones and tablets.

Traction’s Basic Accounting is available for $950/year and its features include:

  • Manage an unlimited number of farm entities.
  • Connect your bank and credit card accounts to synchronize your transactions.
  • Maintain your cash-based balance sheet and income statement with drill-down analysis.
  • Use your phone to take pictures of invoices and tag them to transactions.
  • Perform standard tasks like adding accounts, transaction editing and reconciling bank statements.
  • Two manager logins
  • Create field names and boundaries and see a map of your farm (Spring 2021).
  • View profit centers by field and/or crop from your actual expenses and revenue (Spring 2021).
