While parts of the country continue to struggle with drought conditions, farmers in corn- and soybean-growing states are hoping for a reprieve from rainfall. What does this weekend have in store for planting opportunities?

“Our models are all showing some decent rains coming through parts of the Central Plains into the lower Great Lakes as we head through the next couple of days and later today,” says AgDay Meteorologist Mike Hoffman. “Also [expect] a weak cool front coming into the Northern Plains that will have some scattered showers.”

However, the main area of the rain will be the North Central Mississippi Valley moving east through the Ohio Valley—that’s already been receiving heavy rainfall.
