Following a successful 2023 growing season, determining yield potential may rightfully be at the top of your to-do list this spring. Start off right: Invest in a fertilizer that gives you the greatest potential in yield and value.

When purchasing fertilizer, consider:

  • Reacquainting yourself with your field: Review your most recent soil tests. What are they telling you about nutrient removal based on the crops you have in those areas? With crop nutrient uptake and removal rates greater than previous, ensure you’re providing what’s needed.
  • Determine 2024 yield goal: Based on soil test results, is your yield goal realistic? What can you do now to boost potential? Reducing or eliminating fertilizers in a crop nutrition program may result in yield loss or a decline in soil nutrient levels and reduced profitability in the future.
  • Provide the nutrients your soil needs: Together with your retailer, evaluate how to adequately and efficiently supply your soil with the key nutrients it needs, both at the beginning of and throughout the growing season.

A 2020 study throughout North America found that soil was seriously lacking: 46% of P and 44% of K in the samples were below the critical level of which soil test levels should be built to minimize yield loss.

A top factor in achieving high crop yields is to provide a balanced supply of essential macro- and micronutrients. If even one of the essential plant nutrients is lacking while all others are abundant, plant growth will suffer.

To optimize yield and your return on investment, don’t skimp this spring on a foundational fertilizer. Up to 60% of yield is dependent on crop nutrition (Stewart, et al. [2005]).

Your simple solution: Complete fertilizer technology

Mosaic MicroEssentials® removes complexity for both growers and retailers by providing the nutrients crops need, in the amount needed, in each granule.

With the power of Fusion® Technology, MicroEssentials offers benefits unique to the fertilizer industry:

  • Uniform nutrient distribution: Individual granules are blended with small nutrient particles to reach all of your field in the right amount.
  • Two forms of sulfur: Sulfate and elemental sulfur that converts to sulfate, so your crops have more of what they need all season long.
  • Improved nutrient uptake: Phosphorus in a more available form, zinc in every granule and smaller elemental sulfur for faster conversion to sulfate.

Make 2024 your year: Count on fertilizer technologies and the agronomic and economic benefits they provide. Discover the benefits that MicroEssentials and Fusion Technology can provide to boost your value this year.
