It is almost serendipitous that third-generation farmer Lee Mueller farms near Hiawatha, Kansas. In the language of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, Hiawatha means “I am looking far away.” Mueller’s farming philosophy mirrors that forward-thinking mindset to a T, especially when it comes to innovation.

“I always try to be progressive, evolve as technologies change and look for the next new product — whether it’s a piece of equipment, an improved seed variety or the next generation in crop protection products,” Mueller says. “That’s what we’re doing with Resicore REV herbicide.”

At Laus Creek Farm, sunflower, shattercane, pigweed and waterhemp are all issues across Mueller’s no-till corn and soybean ground. He believes in the three strong, proven modes of action that make Resicore® REV herbicide a premier corn crop protection product. Those modes of action are clopyralid, mesotrione and encapsulated acetochlor. He relies on those active ingredients to control more than 75 tough broadleaf and grass weeds.

“My dad is still involved in the farming operation, and we wanted to try Resicore REV herbicide to see how it tank-mixed and how it applied,” Mueller says. “I have no concerns about it, and the weed control was great.”

The last thing a farmer needs is a product that does not mix well in the tank, clabbers or leaves solid residues that can lead to clogged screens or tips and poor application performance. Seeing the results after an application of Resicore REV herbicide, Mueller could tell it was going to be a great fit for his herbicide program this year, next year and years to come.

“I see the benefits of Resicore REV herbicide as being easy to tank-mix, good compatibility with other products and easy to apply,” Mueller says. “It also has great flexibility, so I’m not tied to that one thing if I happen to put it on a field and have to make a change.”

Flexibility and Residual Activity

A farmer’s schedule is rarely set in stone. Countless factors each day may, and usually do, impact plans and cause that schedule to be changed. That is why a crop protection product needs to offer a farmer flexible options, not take them away.

Resicore REV herbicide delivers multiple options and fits a wide range of weed control and agronomic programs — from conventional to reduced-till to the type of tillage regime Mueller uses on his operation: no-till. It also gives a farmer more flexibility at the tank-mix pad with nutrients, including UAN and ammonium thiosulfate (ATS).

“The flexibility of the application window of Resicore REV herbicide is very appealing,” Mueller says. “I’ve sprayed it right behind the planter from a preemergence scenario to corn that’s probably a foot tall or more. To have that window is extremely important, especially with the variability of the weather that we all know we can have.”

Mueller knows he can customize his weed control program with Resicore REV herbicide. He also knows with an encapsulated acetochlor, he gets increased crop safety, which leads to healthier corn and soybeans and increased yield potential.

“Going down the road in the future, I do plan on using Resicore REV herbicide as my preferred product. I can’t imagine not using it next year,” Mueller concludes.
