Corteva is expanding its soybean herbicide lineup with the introduction of Enclosa herbicide, a new premix designed to give growers another option for residual weed control and resistance management. The product has received U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approval and is now moving through state registrations, with commercial sales expected later this year for the 2027 growing season.
Premix Offers Two Modes of Action
Drake Robards, Corteva portfolio marketing lead for soybean herbicides, says Enclosa combines two active ingredients in a single liquid formulation:
- Acetochlor (Group 15) in Corteva’s proprietary encapsulated formulation, which provides residual soil activity.
- Cloransulam (Group 2), a systemic herbicide that adds control of emerged broadleaf weeds.
According to Corteva, the combination provides up to four weeks of residual weed control while targeting more than 36 broadleaf weeds and grasses.
Built on Enversa Technology
The new product builds on the encapsulated acetochlor technology introduced with Enversa herbicide in 2025. Robards says the encapsulation allows acetochlor to move quickly from plant surfaces into the soil after application, where it forms a residual barrier against germinating weeds.
By adding cloransulam to the formulation, Enclosa provides both residual and systemic activity in a single application.
Flexible Placement in Weed Control Programs
Enclosa is labeled for both pre-emergence and post-emergence applications, giving soybean growers flexibility when weather or field conditions delay herbicide application or weed issues dictate.
The herbicide is also designed to fit into a wide range of soybean weed management programs. Corteva says it can be tank-mixed with:
- Metribuzin or sulfentrazone in pre-emergence programs.
- Glyphosate or glufosinate in post-emergence applications.
For growers using Enlist E3 soybeans, Enclosa is also intended to complement Enlist One herbicide as part of an overall weed management program.
Enclosa has received EPA approval and is currently undergoing individual state registration processes. Corteva expects initial sales later this year, with the product available for the 2027 soybean growing season.
