USDA’s Joint Ag Weather Facility has provided the following weekly weather/crop highlights:

  • EUROPE: Much-Needed Rain Returns To Spain
    - Much-needed rain returns to Spain after a long dry spell, improving prospects for wheat and barley.
    - Drier weather settles over central and northern Europe, where mostly favorable overwintering conditions persist for winter grains and oilseeds. However, the continent remains devoid of snow cover.

  • NORTHWESTERN AFRICA: Rain Returns To Morocco
    - After a protracted dry spell, much-needed rain returns to Morocco, improving soil moisture for wheat.
    - Soil moisture remains favorable for winter wheat and barley in Algeria and Tunisia.

  • MIDDLE EAST: Rain And Snow Continue In The North
    - Rain and snow continue in Turkey, Syria, and northwestern Iran, maintaining favorable soil moisture reserves for winter grains.

  • FSU: Additional Snowfall Insulates Winter Crops In Russia
    - A fresh snowfall insulates winter grains and oilseeds from potential incursions of bitter cold in Russia.
    - Dormant winter grains and oilseeds remain devoid of protective snow cover in Ukraine and Belarus.

  • SOUTH ASIA: Unseasonably Heavy Rain
    - Unseasonably heavy showers provide beneficial moisture for rabi rice in eastern India.

  • EAST ASIA: Cold Weather For Dormant Winter Crops
    - Cold, dry weather prevails across dormant winter wheat in China.

  • SOUTHEAST ASIA: Favorable Moisture For Rice In Indonesia
    - Showers maintain abundant moisture supplies for reproductive rice in Java, Indonesia.

  • AUSTRALIA: Rain Continues To Benefit Summer Crops
    - In northern New South Wales and Queensland, widespread showers maintain abundant moisture supplies for dryland and irrigated summer crops.
    - In southeastern and western Australia, mostly dry weather favors final winter crop harvesting.

  • SOUTH AMERICA: Much-Needed Rain Overspreads Argentina And Southern Brazil
    - A strong cold front brings widespread, locally heavy rain and cooler weather to Argentina, helping to alleviate stress on corn and soybeans.
    - Beneficial showers return to corn and soybean areas of southern Brazil. Conditions remain overall favorable for soybeans, cotton, and coffee grown farther north.

  • SOUTH AFRICA: Warm, Showery Weather Continues
    - Rain and summer warmth maintain generally favorable summer crop prospects across the corn belt.
