USDA’s Joint Ag Weather Facility has provided the following weekly weather/crop highlights:
EUROPE: Hot Weather Impacts Southern Summer Crops
- Heat returns to southern Europe, further reducing yield prospects for filling corn and sunflowers.
- After a brief respite, showers hamper small grain and oilseed maturation and harvesting over much of northern Europe, although the rain is beneficial for reproductive summer crops.MIDDLE EAST: Showers Supplement Irrigation, But Heat Continues
- Showers supplement irrigation in western Turkey, while hot weather maintains stress on reproductive to filling cotton and corn in southeastern Turkey and northern Syria.FSU: Heat Increases; Showers Are Mostly Too Late For Kazakhstan’s Wheat
- Dry, hot weather is untimely for reproductive corn and sunflowers from Ukraine into southern Russia.
