Scout Name Brought Back
To build on its heritage name, Case IH introduces the Scout lineup of utility vehicles. Included in the series are two models: the Case IH Scout and the Case IH Scout XL. The base configuration is a two-passenger, 14-hp gasoline-powered midsize utility vehicle. The Scout is outfitted with MacPherson Strut front suspension and independent rear suspension; a wide ratio continuously variable transmission (CVT); hydraulic, four-wheel disk brakes; rollover protection; retractable safety belts and halogen headlamps. The Scout XL is available in two-passenger and four-passenger versions, with gas or diesel engines, 23-hp and 20-hp, respectively. The Scout XL features the same transmission and brake systems as the other Scout model, but these vehicles include double A-arm front suspension with coil overshocks and a full-size bed box with 800 lb. of capacity or up to 1,050 lb. with the high-capacity kit. A full range of Case IH Scout accessories are available, including: windshield, winch, front blade, bed dump, bed liner, camouflage and gun rack. Heavier Loads, Same Tire Pressure
As farm equipment is built larger and heavier, tire manufacturers respond with tires to handle the load. Firestone introduces its Advanced Deflection Design (AD2) technology, which meets the North American Tire and Rim Association’s Increased Flexion (IF) standard. The tires are designed for greater sidewall flexibility. Tires with AD2 technology can carry 20% heavier loads than standard radials, and operators can reduce inflation pressure to minimize soil compaction. Tires with the AD2 technology have a footprint larger than that of same-size standard radial tires to improve traction, reduce fuel consumption and soil compaction. The first offering of Firestone AD2 tires is designed for row-crop tractors of 300 hp or more, equipped with four-wheel-drive or mechanical front-wheel drive.
