The FSA announced on March 9 $20 million of cost-share assistance for eligible disaster events in certain states for damage to grain storage facilities through the Emergency Grain Storage Facility Assistance Program (EGSFP).

States that are eligible are Kentucky, Minnesota, South Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, and Tennessee. The application period will open later this month and will close December 29, 2023.

The press release contains maps for each of these states showing the areas that would be eligible for this cost-share program.

The types of grain storage facilities covered by this program include:

  • conventional-type cribs or bins designed and engineered for grain storage

  • open buildings with two end walls

  • converted storage structures

  • asphalt, concrete or gravel floors with grain piles and tarp covering,

  • ag baggers (including bags)

If you sustained damage to your grain storage facilities and are located in one of these states and meet the locations indicated on the maps, I would certainly recommend reaching out to your local FSA office to get additional information.
