Pressure Continues to be Applied to USDA on 2022 ERP

asdf

65 members of the US House and Senate issued a letter to USDA Secretary Vilsack indicating that USDA must make changes to how they are implementing the 2022 ERP.

This follows up on the letter we reported previously from two Senators indicating that USDA needs to revert back to using the payment process from the 2020/21 ERP.

This current letter is even more strongly worded indicating that USDA needs to eliminate the progressive payment process and provide crop insurance premium reimbursements to all farmers not just a select few that may be underserved.

We also reported earlier that USDA seems to have stopped processing any payments to farmers under 2022 ERP. We are surmising that USDA is working internally to review their best options (which should simply be reverting to the old process) and how to communicate that to producers.

We will keep you posted.
