delete

The IRS each year provides certain income tax data based upon Zip Codes. They recently released the data for 2018.

There is quite a bit of information listed by the ZIP Code. For example, you can determine the following information:

  • Number of returns filed (individual income tax returns),
  • Number of single, joint or head of household returns,
  • Total adjusted gross income (AGI) (you can calculate average gross income).
  • The breakdown of each category based on average AGI:
    • $1 - $25,000
    • $25,000 to $50,000
    • $50,000 to $75,000
    • $75,000 to $100,000
    • $100,000 to $200,000
    • Over $200,000
  • Details regarding each return such as wages, interest, dividends, social security income, pensions, etc.

The provide a interactive map of the US and once you click on a state it brings up an Excel file showing all of the details.
