Nathan Birt

Nate Birt serves as managing editor of Top Producer. He previously spent his days as deputy managing editor of the magazine and interacting with Farm Journal Media fans on social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as social media and news editor. He also wrote about machinery for Farm Journal and AgWeb.com. Nate is a graduate of the University of Missouri, from which he holds a master’s in journalism and bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science. He has worked as a web producer for the Detroit Free Press; as news and online editor at the Boonville (Mo.) Daily News; and as a local editor for AOL’s Patch.com community news websites in St. Louis. He joined Farm Journal Media in 2012. He owes his agricultural knowledge to his wife, Julie, and her family, longtime St. Charles County, Mo., residents who have been active in 4-H. They previously raised Oxford sheep. Nate, Julie and their three sons live in central Missouri.
