BASF’s Zidua herbicide, previously registered for use only with corn and soybeans, has received Environmental Protection Agency registration for spring and winter wheat. It controls Italian ryegrass, annual bluegrass and canarygrass, and it suppresses broadleaf and grass weeds such as wild oat, foxtail species, kochia, pigweed, chickweed, henbit and wild mustard.
Greg Armel, technical market manager with BASF, says the pyroxasulfone in Zidua gives farmers a new option to control Italian ryegrass weed populations that are resistant to ALS-inhibitor, glyphosate and ACCase herbicides.
