Protecting Yield Potential and the Land

If you think profitability and sustainability can’t go hand in hand, it might be time to reconsider. Watch this video to see how one Iowa family grows more corn bushels with less environmental impact.

On Joe Shirbroun’s Iowa farm, three generations of his family work together to raise corn and soybeans. Shirbroun, his son and his father-in-law aim for high yield on their acres each season but say their No. 1 goal is ensuring the legacy of the land for future generations.

After harvest each fall, the family immediately starts looking ahead to the upcoming growing season. They begin by applying fertilizer to next year’s corn acres. Watch the video below to see why Shirbroun says they always protect anhydrous ammonia applications with N-Serve® nitrogen stabilizer.

N-Serve nitrogen stabilizer is powered by Optinyte® technology, which is proven to:1

  • Increase average corn yield by 7% when used with fall nitrogen applications and by 5.2% when used with spring applications
  • Reduce nitrogen leaching by 16%
  • Lessen greenhouse gas emissions by 51%
  • Increase soil nitrogen stability by 28%

In fact, the use of Optinyte technology over one year reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 3 million metric tons.1 According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, that’s equivalent to the CO2 emissions from:

  • 337,571,734 gallons of gasoline consumed
  • 6,945,634 barrels of oil consumed
  • 583,714 homes’ energy usage for one year

Optinyte technology also is the active ingredient in Instinct NXTGEN® nitrogen stabilizer. Instinct NXTGEN nitrogen stabilizer offers the same yield increase and environmental benefits as N-Serve nitrogen stabilizer, but for use with UAN, urea and liquid manure.
