With severe drought blanketing much of the western U.S. and late-season snowstorms smacking the Midwest, planting in many parts of the country have been stymied this week--and in some areas, those planters could remained parked for a few weeks longer.
But the latest USDA Crop Progress Report shows that so far, planting has fallen only slightly behind schedule. As of April 18, the U.S. corn crop was 4% planted, two points below the 5-year average, and 1% of the soybean crop was in the ground, just one point below the 5-year average.
How is your spring planting coming along so far this year? Are you ahead of, behind or on track with your usual schedule? Let us know in the poll below!
