China recently approved Bayer and MS Technologies’ Balance GT Soybeans for import. With the European Union’s previous approval, the companies are closer to a full U.S. commercial launch.

Balance GT Soybeans provide tolerance to glyphosate (group 9 herbicide) and HPPD inhibitors (group 27) to fight weeds. The accompanying herbicide, Balance Bean, combines these sites of action for over-the-top use in soybeans with tolerant traits. Balance Bean herbicide has not gained regulatory approval.

While the trait has all needed approvals, Bayer and MS Technologies will wait to launch Balance GT Soybeans until the herbicide gains full regulatory approvals.
