A fire at a poultry farm in North Manchester, Ind. Monday night killed more than 1 million birds.
Fire crews from 22 departments battled the flames for approximately seven hours at Hi-Grade Egg Producers, 35 miles west of Fort Wayne.
While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, the wind spread the flames to surrounding barns and destroyed at least four barns.
According to Hi-Grade Company President Bob Krause, 15 processing facilities weren’t damaged. In roughly 5 months, he expects the operation will be back to 100 percent.
No one was hurt during the fire.
