A recent auction in southeast Iowa saw high-quality cropland sell for $12,950 to $13,350 per acre. The auction featured three tracts of land totaling 198.5 acres located north of Harper, Iowa in Keokuk County. Tract 1 consisted of 78.5 acres. It was nearly all tillable and featured high-quality soils. It carried a Corn Suitability Rating 2 (CRS2) of 89.4. (A CRS2 of 100 is maximum.) That compares to a CSR county average of 59.6. While CSR2, an update of CSR) does not quite compare fully with CSR, the 30 point difference highlights the quality difference the offering featured. Tract 2 featured 80 acres and was also nearly all tillable and carried a CSR2 of 82.7. Tracts 1 and 2 were adjoining. Tract 3 was located separately from Tracts 1 and 2 and consisted of 40 acres.
