Ask the Experts: When Should Disease-Control Planning Start?

How did your corn crop handle disease pressure in 2017? DuPont Crop Protection and Farm Journal representatives were in the field last month to answer questions on identifying and controlling common foliar diseases in corn.

DuPont fungicide portfolio manager and Ph.D. plant pathologist Mike Meyer and technical sales agronomist Austin Studer were in Johnston, Iowa, to discuss fungal disease control strategies with Farm Journal farm broadcaster Pam Fretwell. The conversation was broadcast over Facebook Live on the Farm Journal On Air Facebook page.

In the video, Meyer and Studer share tips on scouting for and identifying fungal diseases in corn, including gray leaf spot, northern corn leaf blight and southern rust. Meyer and Studer provide strategies to help growers control common foliar diseases and maintain visibly better crops through harvest.
