More than 70 vehicle models available in the U.S. are flex-fuel compatible, according to the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition. The organization recently released an updated list of the flex-fuel vehicles.
For 2009, nearly 50 models fall into the flex-fuel category. “New models like the Lincoln Navigator, Buick Lucerne, Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Tundra make an excellent addition to the vehicle line-up,” said Phil Lampert, executive director of the NEVC, in a news release. “We’ve come a long way since the introduction of the E-85 compatible Ford Taurus in 1995.”
Several of the automakers are now placing badges on their cars, which provide a visual reminder of E-85 compatibility. See the Flex-Fuel Badges.
Automakers offering flex-fuel vehicles are:
- Chrysler
- Ford
- General Motors
- Mazda
- Mercedes
- Isuzu
- Nissan
- Toyota
