The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center (CPC) released its October outlook today. The report indicated there may not be much significant moisture in the nation’s thirstiest regions, and that temperatures would likely remain mild for the next 90 days. Based on this outlook, expect natural gas prices to remain soft through the next three months as warmer seasonal temperatures depress demand for home heating. The map below shows where runaway temperatures are most likely.
WxAnalyst meteorologist Al Peterlin explains,"The long-term implications for agriculture are onerous if this latest outlook pattern verifies. Warm temperatures will linger through the winter soil-moisture-recharge season and the potential for soil replenishing rains will be predicted only for the southern tier of states, consistent with an El Nino pattern year.”
Peterlin says to look for ideal harvest weather, warmer temps in the short-term, depressed heating energy needs and sunny skies for holiday shopping.
