In wake of increasing supplies of distillate in storage -- the number one feedstock for both diesel fuel and heating oil -- and demand for distillate showing signs of moving higher, your Inputs Monitor has observed a seasonal low in farm diesel prices appears to be in place. This signals a buying window, and the time to book your winter farm diesel and a portion of farm diesel for spring has arrived.
The alert advises that, while farm diesel prices are low at present, a cold snap could pressure distillate supplies -- diverting more distillate feedstocks from farm diesel production to home heating oil production. This could push the price of farm diesel higher relative to a seasonal drop in temperatures.
