A Washington D.C. public relations firm filed suit against Fatima Fertilizer and its American subsidiary The Midwest Fertilizer Company for outstanding bills amounting to $400,000. Fatima had hired the firm to assist with logistics and communications with U.S. entities. Earlier this year, allegations surfaced that fertilizers produced in Pakistan at Fatima facilities had been used by insurgents and militants to construct improvised explosive devices.
Lt. General Barbero spearheaded the effort by the Department of Defense to help Fatima eliminate such use of its products by creating a new, less explosive formula and by reworking packaging and distribution strategies at Fatima facilities in Pakistan. Fatima needed the D.C. public relations firm to help them polish their image for investors here in the States.
But Levick Strategic Communications claimed its bills to Fatima for services rendered had gone unpaid. News comes today that Levick has dropped the suit unexpectedly, but voluntarily and the D.C. firm confirms that is is no longer working with Fatima. Beyond that, details are sketchy.
What remains is another prospect for domestic nitrogen production and despite Indiana Gov. Pence’s apprehensions, Posey County has refinanced bonds, making it possible for The Midwest Fertilizer Company to again proceed with its nitrogen plant.
