John Deere says it has responded to small-grain producers who want to drill more acres per day by debuting its largest air cart to-date, the C850. The cart has an 850 bu. carrying capacity, which is 55% larger than previous models.
Benefits include top-notch performance, improved uptime and a lower cost of operation, according to Ryan Hough, John Deere product marketing manager for seeding.
“Producers will see industry-leading total product delivery from AirPower 2, standard equipment on the C850,” he says. “Integrated tank scales are included, and a five-pivot hydraulic wireless conveyance is capable of delivering 100 bu. per minute to fill all tanks from a single positioning of the cart and semi. Every additional bushel of capacity to each tank was considered to ensure the splits were right, allowing more time for seeding.”
Using common input rates, farmers could seed around 170 acres before refilling, Hough says. Calibration is faster than ever and can be completed via a display mounted to the cart, he says. In-field calibration is also possible from inside the tractor cab via ActiveCal, he says.
The C850 is built with a heavy-duty frame and includes stainless steel primaries to reduce corrosion and wear, according to Hough. It is also equipped with an integrated camera wiring harness, compatible with CabCAM and Voyager cameras.
The cart is also compatible with the 76-foot John Deere 1870 Air Hoe Drill; and 50- and 60-foot 1890 No-till Air Drills. It comes with a 50 bu. mini hopper, dual rear and single font tires, with other time-saving features that include AirPower 2, ActiveCal, Acres Remaining, Section Command and Hydraulic Wireless Conveyance, according to Hough.
