A Salt Lake City, Utah sewage removal company has been charged with illegally dumping thousands of gallons of raw sewage. Fox13TV in Salt Lake City reported yesterday that an A&B Sewer and Drain employee had been photographed dumping raw sewage from a collection truck behind a residence.
A&B Owner Tom Vasiliou and the company have been charged with two violations of the Water Quality Act, a third degree felony. But Vasiliou insists he did nothing wrong telling Fox13TV, “Human waste, it’s fertilizer, not toxic.”
The County Attorney disagrees citing a multitude of potential health hazards associated with improper disposal of human waste. Vasiliou was named personally in the charges as an entity such as A&B Sewage and Drain cannot be jailed.
Vasiliou faces up to ten years in prison for the felonies but maintains his innocence. “I said, ‘Can I dump this over there?’ And he (the customer) says, ‘Yeah,’” Vasiliou explained to Fox13TV, contending that at the time he did not feel he was doing anything wrong.
