Interest In Precise Application Rises

At the 2018 MAGIE show, one of the biggest topics regarding spraying equipment centered around individual nozzle control, according to Jesse Haecker with John Deere. He says in its second year of availability, John Deere’s ExactApply has take rates of 25% to 50%.

The upward trend is shared by others as well.

“Individual nozzle control is growing in popularity, especially with growers and ag retailers who are looking for the ultimate solution in precision application, input cost savings and return on investment,” explains Mark Burns, Case IH application marketing manager. “Generally speaking, the larger the sprayer, the more common it is for a customer to select this feature.”

The adoption of individual nozzle control has grown since the computer processing technology to allow for that level of control was developed, says Brian Finstrom with Capstan Ag.

“It could be said that pulse width modulation [PWM] was the vessel that carried in individual nozzle control,” Finstrom explains. “That’s been an intuitive choice for many to add to a new sprayer.”
