This week’s Pete’s Pick highlights multiple sales from one auction. On Aug. 22, the Scott Gau farm estate auction in Portsmouth, Iowa, by Osborn Auction had several purchases that caught Machinery Pete’s eye:

  • A one-owner 1992 John Deere 4455 two-wheel-drive with 4,405 hours sold for $74,500, the second-highest auction price ever on a 2WD model with more than 4,000 hours.
  • 2013 Kubota M135GX with loader and 388 hours sold for a new record-high auction price of $81,000.
  • 2009 John Deere 7930 with 2,362 hours sold for $148,000, the third-highest auction price ever on that model without a loader and more than 2,000 hours.
  • 2013 Bobcat S590 with 235 hours sold for $46,000, the second-highest auction price ever.
  • 1971 IHC 1456 with 5,760 hours sold for $29,000.

On Aug. 15, the Wayne Montei farm estate auction in Fairgrove, Mich., by Osentoski Auction Service experienced a record-high auction price. A John Deere 4840 with only 884 hours sold for $86,000, beating the previous record price by $14,000.

Looking ahead, Machinery Pete is keeping an eye on a 1980 John Deere 4440 with 1,071 hours for sale through the annual August machinery consignment auction by Kyle Kelso Auctioneer. The Adair, Ill., auction is live until Aug. 29, but the tractor is already up to $95,000, which is already $10,000 more than the highest price Machinery Pete has ever seen for a John Deere 4440 sold at an auction.

As he’s said time and time again in recent months, the interest is still high for well-maintained used equipment.
