Pete’s Pick: International 1468 Shatters Record at $77,250

Penfield auction delivers record sales while nearly-new 8R 370s fetch $385K at separate Missouri sale

Pete’s Pick is going old school this week with a vintage tractor auction held during the Historic Farm Days show in Penfield, Ill. The July 9 sale, hosted by Kerr Auction, featured the following classic machinery:

  • International 1468 sold for an all-time record high auction price of $77,250. The previous record high was $63,000 from five years ago.
  • 1974 Massey Ferguson 1155 also sold for a record high price of $30,000. Machinery Pete described it as “about the prettiest Massey” he’s ever seen.
  • Restored John Deere G sold for $14,000.
  • John Deere 4320 sold for $28,000.
  • John Deere 6030 sold for $32,500.
  • John Deere 730 diesel sold for $12,000.
  • 1954 Farmall 300 sold for $7,500.

Meanwhile, on July 10, Eds Machinery had a consignment sale in Memphis, Mo. Machinery Pete highlights some of the impressive sales:

  • 2024 John Deere 8R 370 with 124 hours sold for $385,000
  • 2024 John Deere 8R 370 with 534 hours sold for $356,000. This makes the average auction price on this model and year $377,059. Meanwhile, the average dealer advertised price is $435,050.
  • 2024 John Deere 9RX 640 with 214 hours sold for $530,500. The average auction price on a 9RX 640 is up 4.3% this year.

Rare Spoker, Restored Tractors Up for Bid July 14

Machinery Pete is currently on an auction road trip. Today, July 14, he’s in Mount Pulaski, Ill. Maske Auction Service is hosting an auction featuring Kevin and Kathy Wilhelm’s collection. Kevin has been painting and restoring John Deere tractors for 41 years. The auction will have a variety of equipment for sale, including:

  • Rare John Deere Spoker
  • 1959 Ford Fairlane Convertible
  • 2022 John Deere 8R 370 tractor with 850 hours
  • 1988 John Deere 4450 with 3,576 hours
  • 1997 John Deere 7810 with just over 6,500 hours
  • 2018 John Deere S770 combine with just over 1,800 engine hours
