9 Four-Wheel-Drive Tractors That Sold for a Small Fortune

As usual, there was a ton of fireworks in the auction market at the end of 2023. One sale on Dec. 29 by Swenson & Sons in Minot, N.D., featured several incredible tractors in good condition.

As usual, there was a ton of fireworks in the auction market at the end of 2023. Year-end tax buyers were out in full force. There was one sale, in particular, on Dec. 29 by Swenson & Sons in Minot, N.D., that featured nine incredible four-wheel-drive tractors in good condition:

1. This 1978 Big Bud HN360 with 7,827 hours sold for $122,500 — a record high auction price.

2. Also setting a record at $87,200 was this 1978 Steiger Tiger ST450.

3. With 5,172 hours, this 1991 Ford Versatile 1156 sold for $106,000, the second highest auction price ever.

4. Staying with the blue, and back to another record price, this 2004 New Holland TV145 bidirectional with 1,161 hours sold for $117,500.

5. For all you green fans, this 1992 John Deere 8960 with 4,560 hours sold for $77,100, the third highest price on that model.

6. This 2001 John Deere 9400 with 3,943 hours went for $106,000, the third highest auction price in the past 10-plus years.

7. This 1990 Case IH 9150 with 4,335 hours sold for $50,000.

8. With 3,917 hours, this 1984 Case IH 4994 sold for $41,600.

9. Another 1984 model, this Allis-Chalmers 4W-305 that had been repowered went for $35,600.
