Caption This: A Mechanic Walks Up to a Broken-Down Combine …

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In the case of this photo, the damage is obvious while the mind is left to wonder what the mechanic on his cell phone is saying to the person on the other end.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In the case of this service call, a customer dropped the front tires of his fully loaded combine into a tile blowout while crossing a large weedy waterway. The combine swung violently sideways, shearing off the right rear wheel spindle. The damage is obvious while the mind is left to wonder what the mechanic on his cell phone is saying to the person on the other end. The appropriate caption might be:

“Honey? I won’t be home until dark-thirty.”

“Hello, Dial-A-Prayer?

“You might as well shut off the combine and get out of the cab. I found your problem.”

“I need blocks. Big blocks. Lots of big blocks.”

“Tell the boss to cancel my next service call. It’s more than just stuck in a hole.”

“No, I don’t think I’ll be able to weld it and get it running before the elevator closes.”

“Tell your truck drivers they can have the rest of the day off.”

“Yes, I can fix it. All it will take is time and money. Which do you have more of?”
