USDA says it is accepting more than 2.5 million acres in Grassland Conservation Reserve Program signups, which is double last year’s signup total.

USDA says the additional acres will come from ag producers and private landowners. It brings the total acres enrolled across all CRP signups this year to more than 5.3 million acres. That surpasses the agency’s 4 million acre goal.

Specifically for grassland CRP, producers and landowners submitted offers for nearly 4 million acres this year, the highest in the signup’s history.
