It was a powerful tractor, revolutionary in some ways. At the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory in October 1953, it marked the first Case diesel tested; plus the Case 500 was one of the first tractor with power steering. Its big 6-cylinder diesel (4x5 in. bore and stroke for 377 cu. in.) made 63.81 belt hp–and 411 lb. of torque. A John Deere 50 All-Fuel tested a few days earlier showed 158.6 lb. of torque, less than half the Case. Some think this model looked like a twin to the LA; the 500 still had the simple 4-speed transmission of the Model LA. Snow photo was no problem. Lately, Wisconsin measures snow depth in feet, no inches!

This father-daughter dynamic duo got this 54-year-old up and running in the state where it was built. Pam served as president of the National Farm Broadcasting Association in 2009, is a farm director on a Madison radio station and has a large, loyal audience. This Case was the first tractor Darrell purchased when he took over the family farm.
