Please don’t get excited folks, the colors are correct. The red and bronze paint scheme was used only from 1956 to 1958 during the transition of the Ferguson and Massey-Harris merger. The Massey-Harris 50 was sold by Massey-Harris dealer while its “twin” the Ferguson 40, was marketed by those dealers. Both the M-H 50 and Ferguson 40 were tested simultaneously at Nebraska in fall of 1956, so–surprise–tests were identical. Their Continental engines (3.3125 x 3.875 bore and stroke; 134 cu. in.) rated at 2,000 rpm produced 32 max PTO hp and 30 drawbar hp. Both models featured 6-speed transmissions with a top speed of 15 mph.

Ted farmed with John Deere tractors, but he drive this handsome Massey-Harris 50 on tractor rides in north-central Iowa. He is sometimes challenged by those who think it’s painted the wrong colors and has incorrect decals, but the tractor restoration was done correctly.
