Indonesia is making plans to bring B35 biodiesel (diesel fuel with a 35% mix of palm oil-based fuel) to the market in 2023, according to Chief Economics Minister Airlangga Hartarto. While details are scarce, Hartarto said the government has been directed to make sure the action takes place. “With the implementation of B35, it will reduce our dependency on (oil) imports,” he said, without offering a timeline for the move. The country is currently wrapping up trials on B40 fuel but there is no timeline on when that could be brought to the market. Indonesia currently mandates B30 fuel.
