Informa Adjusts 2012 Planted Acreage

Group reportedly issues initial 2013 acreage estimates.

Sources familiar with Informa Economics say the group has adjusted 2012 acreage estimates based on the latest USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) certified acreage data. The group has reportedly increased its planted corn acreage estimate to 97.2 million and raised its planted soybean acreage estimate to 77.1 million. For 2013, the group estimates corn acreage at 97.5 and soybean acreage at 79.9 million.

Informa reportedly estimates 2012 cotton acreage at 12.36 million and 2013 acreage at 10.02 million.

Informa reportedly estimates the 2012 corn crop at 11.093 billion bu. with a yield of 126.6 bu. per acre and soybean production at 2.663 billion bu. with a yield of 35.2 bu. per acre.
