White mold hit Kip Cullers soybeans hard last year. The perennial soybean yield contest winner is known for the tall, lush specimens that grow in his Purdy, Mo., fields. Those same conditions also provided a good environment for the disease.
Cullers, never one to shy away from a challenge, looked to South America for answers to solving the issue. This year he’s trying some new tactics--including an application of Cobra at the third trifoliate.
We caught him at Farm Progress show--showing off a Pioneer variety of 4.9 maturity that he identified as a good yielder from his farm variety plots last year. It was loaded with pods, shorter in height and white mold free. Harvest is a few weeks away for Cullers. Stay tuned.
