Moisture Sensors Help Mark Irrigation Efficiency

Missy Bauer shows how this technology is helping understand and fine-tune watering programs.

In episode 12 of Corn College TV season 2, head to the field with Farm Journal Associate Field Agronomist Missy Bauer. She shows how her crew is using a technology from Spectrum Technologies to monitor irrigation efficiency.

“We used volumetric water sensors located at four depths to understand the soil moisture profile,” she says.
Her crew monitored the data after rainfall and after irrigation events for comparison.
“This technology provides new perspective on irrigation scheduling and can be a useful tool for farmers,” she says.
